Triathletes and their supporters are reminded that the venues for our triathlons are public community parks and as such, local government by-laws apply. This includes the laws applicable to dogs. Especially where dogs are either not permitted or are required to be kept under effective control at all times in areas where they are permitted.
Dogs must be under effective control by their owner when in public places. It is important that reserves can be used by all members of the community.
Your dog is not considered under control if it:
- chases or disturbs wildlife, other dogs or people
- acts in a threatening or aggressive manner
- attacks or injures another animal or person
- is a considerable distance from its owner(s) preventing response to verbal commands
Rangers are authorised to investigate all offences under the Dog Act (1976) and conduct regular patrols of the City’s parks and designated animal exercise areas.
